This sterling silver necklace is REVERSIBLE! One side features my miniature original black and white photograph of an elegant white tulip set in clear resin. The other side has an etched design that I abstracted from an antique Persian design from one of my mother’s pattern design books. (She has a doctorate in math and some great books!)
The silver was given a matte finish with an eco-friendly process, and was oxidized and antiqued with liver of sulfur. Then the silver was carefully burnished to a brilliant shine. The necklace is strung with semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls – green tree agate, blue quartz, mother-of-pearl, amber glass, flourite, turquoise, malachite, amethyst, howlite, peach agate, green aventurine, black onyx, white marble and peacock blue freshwater pearls.
The tulip pendant with the freshwater pearl drop is 1 3/4″ high and 3/8″ wide, and the beaded strand is 16″ long with a 2″ sterling silver extender and sterling silver lobster clasp, so it can expand to 18″ long. See the last image for a photograph of the earrings next to a ruler and copper penny to get a good sense of scale.
