These sterling silver earrings are REVERSIBLE! The sterling silver lever-back earwires allow you to open the earwire, thread the earrings off, and reverse the earring. Very simple! The locking leverback secures the earring securely to your ear.
One side features miniature original photographs of my original watercolor. First, I sketched the leaf design in pencil on a 6″ x 6″ piece of Arches watercolor paper, and then finished the painting with watercolors in plum and green. Then I took a photo of the painting which I used in the earrings. You can see the process on my blog post here: http://www.ecohappystyle.com/a-peek-at-new-jewelry-designs
The reversible side has an etched design that I abstracted from a antique English William Morris wallpaper. First, I traced the complex wallpaper design on tracing paper and then simplified it before I transferred the design to metal, and etched the design on a master model. The components were then cast in sterling silver and given a matte finish with an eco-friendly process. The metal was oxidized and antiqued with liver of sulfur, and then the high areas of the design were burnished to a brilliant shine. The earrings are finished with a pair of white freshwater pearls.
The earrings are 1 3/8″ high with the earwires and freshwater pearls, and the diameter of the circle is 3/8″ – see the last image for a photograph of the earrings next to a ruler and copper penny to get a good sense of scale.
